Battery &
Charging
Make sure connections are clean (replace bad terminals if need be)
Go to your local auto store once a season to get charging system checked for free
Replace any part of the charging system that is bad immediately to avoid other potential points of failure
Routine Maintenance
Ensure all fluids are up to date on maintenance (fluids being “topped off” does not equal they are good)
Preventative maintenance prevents potential expensive fixes
Almost all car maintenance intervals can be found online
If you happen to fall behind keeping up because life happens, remember safety maintenance first
Tires + Braking system
Have tires inspected once a season to ensure the tread and condition of tire are in good condition
Once a season have your brakes and rotors checked
Try your hardest to stay on top of tire inflation especially in colder months
Good brakes are no good with bad tires and vice versa. They work together to ensure safety in dry and wet conditions
Misc + Things NOT to do
Keep windshield wipers up on nights of freezing rain or snow
Do NOT cut the heat on immediately in the winter months. Allow your car time to actually create heat (2-4min)
Check to see if you have a spare tire and if it comes with tire changing tools. Don’t be the person that finds this out after you already have the flat tire.
Use Google but use with caution that everyone (even me) has some room for error so make sure to do proper research
